The Big C – Rethink The Way We Look At Cancer
Sunday is hands down my favorite day of the week! There’s something magical about kicking back on my trusty beanbag, gazing out at the forest, and diving into thought-provoking content. Today, I’m completely absorbed in astrophysicist Dr. Paul Davies’ fascinating podcast: “Rethink The Way We Look At Cancer.”
I absolutely adore this podcast because it brilliantly illuminates how we’re often spoon-fed specific information – and more importantly, how our mindset shapes the way we interpret everything. Whether we lean toward negative or positive thinking dramatically influences how we view life, disease, and especially that dreaded “C” word that makes everyone’s stomach drop.
Dr. Davies makes a powerful point: cancer touches virtually every family on the planet in some way, whether through loved ones, friends, or acquaintances. It’s becoming increasingly common and seems like this unstoppable force. But here’s where things get interesting – Davies reveals that this disease actually has uses that are completely unexpected and mind-blowing.
If you’ve faced cancer in any capacity – whether personally or through someone you care about – I’m practically begging you to listen to this podcast. It will genuinely open your mind and shift your perspective in ways you never imagined possible.

The Deeper Why Behind This Post
Let me share why I felt compelled to write this article. I want you to notice something profound: the very essence that gives us life can also bring about its equal and opposite effect – sometimes in completely unexpected ways. There’s always a yin and yang to everything in this world, and there’s a purpose behind it all.
As a therapist and practitioner who approaches healing through Eastern philosophy and the fascinating connection between our neurological language and body-mind relationship, I’d love to suggest something radical: let’s strip everything back to basics.
Here’s a perspective that might be challenging but stay with me – what if we’re all individually responsible for our internal and external environments? What if cancer doesn’t simply “happen” to us, but is something we unconsciously create? I don’t mean this in a blame-the-victim way at all. Rather, it’s about exploring empowering new perspectives.
A Different Way to Look at Healing
With this potentially difficult but liberating perspective in mind, we have the power to decide how we approach our health. As individuals, we can tune into the language of our body’s wisdom. Even when disease shows up in our lives, we can ask ourselves more empowering questions like:
- “How did I create this situation?”
- “What can I learn from this?”
- “How can I change and heal?”
These questions come from a place of taking ownership of our lives and recognizing ourselves as creators of our experience. We get to decide how we view disease in our bodies and how we approach the healing process. That’s incredibly empowering when you think about it!
